Posting Date: June 26, 2007
Closing Date: Until filled.

Clean Water Fund will be hiring a full-time campaign and coalition organizer to help lead a team of organizers and advocates seeking to create fundamental change in government policies on toxic chemicals. This organizer will coordinate a broad based grassroots campaign in conjunction with the Alliance for a Healthy Tomorrow in Massachusetts.

Clean Water Fund (Clean Water Fund) is a national non-profit research and education organization that promotes the public interest on issues relating to energy, water, waste, toxics and natural resources. Clean Water Fund's top goals include building support for environmental health issues, and empowering citizens to create real grassroots power and make democracy work. Clean Water Fund's programs build on and complement those of Clean Water Action, with which Clean Water Fund shares some staffing and office space. Clean Water Action has over 30,000 Massachusetts members and 700,000 members nationally.

The Project

Toxic chemicals are contributing to an epidemic of chronic diseases and disorders in our communities. Government policies to regulate these chemicals do not protect our health and allow toxic chemicals in our common household products as well as our air and water. Given the power of polluting industries in stopping health protective policies, it is necessary to build a broad and powerful coalition and conduct a strategic and effective campaign to create a public mandate for health protective policies.

Clean Water Fund is the founder and coordinator of Alliance for a Healthy Tomorrow, a ground-breaking coalition of citizens, scientists, health professionals, workers and educators, seeking preventive action on toxic hazards.

The Environmental Health Organizer will conduct grassroots organizing and advocacy to help build citizen, legislative and agency support for these initiatives.
