Clean Water Action (CWA) seeks a national Political Director. CWA is a national non-profit citizens organization working to protect our health, environment, economic well-being, and community quality of life. CWA has over 1 million members nationwide and strong state-level political programs. Clean Water Action's political program mobilizes hundreds of thousands of environmental voters in key states and communities across the country.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include:
- Develop goals, plans, and strategies for elections and related programs.
- Assist campaign managers in development and implementation of campaign plans, including budget and fundraising plans.
- Develop, recommend to decision makers, and manage budgets for national campaign-related activities.
- Help recruit and oversee highly qualified staff to carry out campaign-related responsibilities.
- Research and report on potential races/places, candidates, issues etc.
- Help develop and implement curricula, systems and plans for training staff, leaders, and volunteers for various campaign roles.
- Produce model campaign messages, materials, and information. Help develop and carry out plans for publicizing campaign-related messages and activities.
- Help coordinate and communicate with organizational decision making bodies and staff concerning campaign and related programs.
- Represent organization to groups and individuals.
- Work on-the-ground in selected campaigns and projects to provide direction and assistance, develop/ test new models and techniques, observe and assess abilities, train campaigners, and gain in depth experience.
- Assist in keeping and submitting timely records/reports to meet legal/organizational requirements.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
Qualifications include:
- Commitment to organization's mission.
- Experience working with leaders in political, environmental, media and funder communities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Good judgment; well organized and able to handle multiple responsibilities.
- Strong ability to analyze situations and options and develop strategies for success.
- Versatile, quick learner; highly productive, hardworking, and reliable work style; able to meet deadlines and do what it takes to get results;
- Willing and able to travel.
- Good working with people, strong manager and motivator.
- Several years' successful experience on election campaigns and related programs.
- Presence and ability to command respect in representing the organization.
- Experience working with public interest, environmental and grassroots groups helpful, political, media and funder community.
Compensation
