Clean air programs are some of the most successful governmental initiatives in our history. Clean air programs have provided strong public health protections that have saved hundreds of thousands of American’s lives and prevented countless asthma attacks, heart attacks, premature deaths and other pollution-related illnesses.
We can have clean air. Make the promise today!
Unfortunately, there have been repeated attempts in Congress to roll back public health protections provided by the clean air policies that, in some instances, have been in place for decades. Weakening these protections would essentially sentence thousands of Americans to early deaths, hundreds of thousands of children to wheeze their way through asthma attacks, and exposing unborn babies to levels of mercury that could irreparably damage their brains.
Take a state like Michigan, for example. Nearly 1 million people suffer from asthma, including more than 225,000 children. A similar story will play out in state after state. Make no mistake, rolling back clean air and public health protections threatens some of our most vulnerable Americans.
We're asking everyone to do their part to protect children and families from the harmful effects of air pollution by taking the Clean Air Promise today.
