Help Clean Up Marine Debris!

  • Help Clean Up Marine Debris!

Marine Debris_small-019 - for web.pngTell Your Representatives to Take Action on Marine Debris

With up to 80% of marine debris coming from land-based litter it time for us to take action to prevent future pollution. Since two-thirds of this is packaging material that is not collected for recycling, we know where the problem is.

Pennsylvania and the US Army Corps Must Protect the Susquehanna from Fracking!

  • Pennsylvania and the US Army Corps Must Protect the Susquehanna from Fracking!

The Susquehanna River BasinThe regulators are not doing their job again.  And - together - we must do something about it.

The Susquehanna River Basin Commission (SRBC) has the job of protecting the Susquehanna.  Clean Water Action needs your support in a vital campaign to get the Susquehanna State Governors (Corbett, Cuomo, O'Malley) to protect the Susquehanna from the negative effects of Fracking.  The SRBC, which is run by Pennsylvania, New York, Maryland, and the Federal Government, is supposed to be the chief protector of the Susquehanna River.

The SRBC is not taking that responsibility seriously. Send a letter to Governor Corbett and the US Army Corps of Engineers and demand that they protect the Susquehanna!

Take the Tap Water Pledge!

  • Take the Tap Water Pledge!

Here in Rhode Island, we have some of the cleanest, best tap water in the country, while bottled water goes unregulated and creates waste.  It’s time we save money, help the environment, and protect our health… take the Tap Water Pledge and join our statewide efforts!

Tell the State: Recycling Trumps Incineration!

  • Tell the State: Recycling Trumps Incineration!

Every day garbage trucks dump paper, wood, bottles and cans and other recyclables into landfills, incinerators, or transfer stations. It’s a terrible waste—but did you know it’s also against the law?

Businesses, schools, municipalities —and residents too— are not supposed to trash material that is easy to recycle. But the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) regularly turns a blind eye when trucks full of banned materials show up at waste facilities. What’s worse, now the state is saying we need more incinerators because we’re running out of landfill space.

Tell the MassDEP Commissioner that it’s time to enforce the waste ban laws and keep the ban on the construction of new incinerators! Send a message today!

Texas Needs a Water Conservation Plan Now

  • Texas Needs a Water Conservation Plan Now

Lake Travis at 41% of capacity

Lake Travis in Dec 2012 at 41% capacity

The Texas Legislature is meeting from mid-January through May 2013 and lawmakers are certain to spend much of their time addressing Texas' water crisis. Please contact your lawmakers today and tell them to implement a state-wide, comprehensive water conservation plan before the session ends!

Our parched state has once again slipped back into drought with forecasters projecting a dry winter. Drought has become our new normal, with devastating impacts on our water supply and economy.
