Sarah Uhl
Environmental Health Coordinator
Sarah Uhl coordinates the Coalition for a Safe & Healthy Connecticut. In this role, she manages the Coalition’s advocacy, media, coalition building, and grassroots organizing campaigns. In 2008, the Coalition won modernized lead and asbestos standards for children’s products, and in 2009 the Coalition successfully supported legislation to phase out Bisphenol-A from a range of food and beverage containers, and a requirement that all public schools be cleaned with green products. Previously, Sarah worked for Clean Water Fund to coordinate the Connecticut Alliance Against Diesel Pollution. She facilitated strategic planning meetings of the Diesel Citizen Steering Committee, led statewide outside organizing, and helped to lead media and advocacy efforts. In 2007, we passed legislation that provided $10 million in funding to retrofit all of the old, polluting school buses in the state. Sarah earned a BA in Environmental Biology and Environmental Studies from Dartmouth College, with honors.
Prior to joining Clean Water, Sarah held research and field technician positions with the Yellowstone Ecological Research Center, the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service, and Dartmouth College. To refuel and stay sharp for the demands of organizing and advocacy, she enjoys long distance running, skiing of all sorts, hiking, and cooking vegetarian food
