Muir Glen is going BPA-free – who will be next?

Ask General Mills if they’ll phase out BPA

Contact General Mills today and ask them when they will phase out BPA in all their canned product lines.

General Mills brand Muir Glen recently announced they are transitioning to BPA-free can liners for their tomato products this year. While this is great news, other General Mills canned food brands, Progresso and Cascadian Farms, continue to use BPA can linings.

Unfortunately, the majority of our canned food is lined with BPA, the estrogenic chemical linked to diabetes, lowered sperm count, prostate cancer, and other health effects. This toxic chemical has been shown to leach out of the can lining into canned foods and liquids. Due to this exposure, the majority of Americans have BPA in our bodies from BPA can liners and other sources.

The good news is, we don’t have to have BPA in our bodies. A recent study by Breast Cancer Fund showed that when families eliminated BPA-lined canned foods from their diets, they decreased the amount of BPA in their bodies by 60 percent on average.

Shopping would be a lot safer (and easier) if all cans were BPA-free. Join Clean Water Action and our Healthy Legacy partners in encouraging Minnesota-based General Mills to make all their brands safe.

Ask General Mills what their plans are for removing BPA from their Progresso and Cascadian Farm brands by sending a message today.

Sample Message:

Subject: Are you phasing out BPA in all your canned foods?

Comments: I was happy to learn your Muir Glen brand is transitioning to BPA-free can liners.

What is your company doing to phase BPA out of your Progresso and Cascadian Farm Brands?

Sincerely,

Let us know what you hear! Email General Mills response to us
