Tell Our Senators We Want Clean Energy Legislation

Hard Hat and PailYou want it. I want it. Polls show most of the American people want it. In his State of the Union speech, President Barack Obama made it clear that he wanted it, that Senator John Kerry wanted it, and that even conservative Senator Lindsey Graham wanted it.

That "it" is comprehensive clean energy jobs legislation that would free the United States from our dependence on foreign oil. For Michigan, comprehensive legislation will rev the engine of our clean energy economy, which is already driving our economic resurgence.

Senators Carl Levin and Debbie Stabenow need to hear from us - tell them we need comprehensive clean energy jobs legislation that doesn't undercut the authority of the Environmental Protection Agency or exempt the biggest polluters!

Comprehensive legislation will level the playing field, create more than 50,000 jobs in Michigan alone and move us to a sustainable, homegrown energy future. Freeing our nation from its dependence on foreign sources of energy is a matter of national security, and the only way to guarantee that security is to produce our own clean, sustainable energy.

We can rebuild our economy, stop the pollution of our air and waters, and improve our national security all at once - but we can only do it if our lawmakers enact comprehensive, strong clean energy jobs legislation. Tell Senators Levin and Stabenow it is time to get it done!
