It is time to speak up for our water in Connecticut. The Connecticut Water Planning Council (WPC), just announced multiple chances for you to learn more about the first CT State Water Plan which is currently in its final draft and public comment period.  The WPC needs to hear from you. Your perspectives and comments are essential for the WPC to share a well-rounded, publicly informed and comprehensive Plan to state legislators and the Governor on January 1, 2018.

Key champions in the state legislature are hosting public meetings on the plan throughout the state. These public meetings will feature regional information sessions with the WPC for you to learn about the Plan and an informal question and answer session with the WPC members. A public hearing will also be held so you can submit formal comments.

The public comment period will be open until November 20, 2017 to make sure you have plenty of time to review the draft plan and provide comments.

Want to know more? WPC members have produced an informative webinar to walk you through an overview, highlights and the pathways forward of the draft CT State Water Plan. Watch it here.

The dates for these public meetings are:

  • October 26, 2017 (hosted by Rep. Jonathan Steinberg) - Earthplace, Westport – 6:30pm -8:30pm.
  • October 30, 2017 (Public Hearing) – DEEP, Hartford, 6:30 pm -8:30 pm.
  • November 8, 2017 (hosted by Rep. Mary Mushinsky) – Wallingford Town Hall, 6:30pm -8:30pm.
  • An additional public meeting in the greater Norwich area is anticipated to be announced soon.

Details about the public meetings, webinar and a copy of the draft plan with instructions on how to provide comments can be found here.

Clean Water Action will be submitting formal comments and encourage you too as well.
