Global Warming and Energy Programs Coordinator

Location: Washington DC

Clean Water Action (CWA) seeks a Climate and Energy Program Coordinator to be based in Washington DC.
With more than a million members, Clean Water Action is a national organization of diverse people and groups working to
protect our health, environment, economic well being and community quality of life. Clean Water Action has
significant campaigns on these issues in several states and a presence on the federal level. Clean Water Action is seeking
to significantly expand its program in this area to meet pressing needs.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include:

  • With national and state staff, develop plans and timelines for national climate and energy work
  • Preparation of proposals and other fundraising activity
  • Coordinate and carry out Clean Water Action's national work on these issues, which will include:
    • mobilization of members around policy initiatives;
    • development of written and electronic publications and information; communication with policy makers, allies and others;
    • research and policy development around water aspects of global warming and energy choices;
    • media work and training conferences and other events.
  • Participate in relevant meetings with allies, policy makers and others
  • Facilitate communication throughout Clean Water Action, including among national and state staff, with the Board of Directors and with other staff groupings as appropriate
  • Monitor policy, scientific and other developments around climate and energy issues
  • Special projects as assigned

Based on experience and responsibilities.

Qualifications: 
  • 3-5 years experience in climate, clean energy, water policy and related issues preferred.
  • Committed to organization's mission;
  • excellent written and verbal communicator;
  • good judgment;
  • well organized and able to handle multiple responsibilities;
  • versatile, quick learner;
  • able to work effectively with computer/informationtechnology systems and programs;
  • able to travel;
  • highly productive, hardworking, and reliable work style, able to meet deadlines and do what it takes to complete assignments;
  • good people skills.
