Stop Packaging Pollution

Beach Debris Image.JPGTell Your Representatives to Take Action on Marine Debris

With up to 80% of marine debris coming from land-based litter it time for us to take action to prevent future pollution. Since two-thirds of this is packaging material that is not collected for recycling, we know where the problem is.

It's time for the manufacturers of these materials to help cities and towns invest the programs that are proven to reach 80% recycling rates by the year 2020. With industry working with state and local government we can reduce marine debris and recycle this valuable material into new consumer products. Support H5264 (sponsored by Rep. Donna Walsh) and S406 (sponsored by Sen. Catherine Cool Rumsey) as an effective program to manage marine debris in Rhode Island.
