Maya is the Assistant Canvass Director to the Washington Field Canvass and Virginia Program Organizer at Clean Water Action. She has worked with Clean Water Action since April 2017, starting as a Field Organizer and Manager. Over the years Maya has organized members in the DMV, Pennsylvania, and Minnesota on a variety of issues and campaigns, ranging from the Clean Water Act, the Keep Antibiotics Effective Act, Anacostia River cleanup, and stormwater runoff.
One of her first campaigns as Virginia Program Organizer was working to pass legislation to remove toxic coal ash sites along Virginia’s riverbanks. Mobilizing Virginia members in the field to write letters to their representatives and later delivering them when lobbying in Richmond, Maya saw firsthand the important role grassroots organizing has when making political change. Maya loves animals and spending time with her favorite dog, Dash the Dachshund. She also likes running and getting close to nature when she can.
