Extend Michigan's Water Shutoff Moratorium

Due to support from Michiganders like you, our State Legislature passed a temporary moratorium on water shutoffs in 2020. The bill, introduced by Senator Stephanie Chang and signed by Governor Whitmer, also required water utilities to turn water service back on to households that have been shut off. This was a necessary and important public health measure during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Unfortunately, the moratorium was time limited- and it is due to expire on March 31st, 2021.

Contact your Michigan Representative and Senator today and ask them to prioritize extending the water shutoff moratorium.
