Children all across Pennsylvania are at risk of exposure to lead through paint in old housing units, aging infrastructure leaching lead into our drinking water and soil contamination from demolished industrial sites. Yet only 32% of Pennsylvania children under the age of 2 receive the needed testing to determine exposure.

An effort to address this passed last session but was amended at the last minute and weakened the original language by calling for the testing children to merely be considered. House Bill 825 corrects this shortcoming and ensures ALL Pennsylvania children get their blood lead level tested which will help us identify children who are at risk and intervene.
