Protect Aquifers from Oilfield Waste!

The Texas Railroad Commission is under Sunset Review. In spite of its name, the Railroad Commission has authority over most oil and gas operations in Texas, including fracking operations. Sunset review for state agencies occurs every 12 years, and this is an opportunity to improve protections of our water, air and health.

A 2016 report from Clean Water Action proves that the Texas Railroad Commission has failed to track oil and gas wastewater injected into aquifers, even though the federal Safe Drinking Water Act and a 1982 agreement it made with the US Environmental Protection Agency require it to.

Please write today to the Sunset Commission and tell it to direct the Railroad Commission to protect underground sources of drinking water.
