New Jerseyans are joining together in opposition to the growing threat of new polluting pipelines, power plants, compressor stations, and other dangerous and unnecessary fossil fuel projects.

Empower NJ, a coalition of New Jersey's largest environmental, faith, and progressive organizations, is organizing the "NJ Tour For a Fossil Fuel Moratorium", a series of 6 public forums beginning February 18th and running through early April. We'll hear from experts and community leaders who are on the front lines of the fight to stop new fossil fuel projects proposed throughout our state.

March 7th: South Brunswick Senior Center

Federal regulators recently approved the NESE compressor station & Raritan Bay gas pipeline proposal. But New Jersey Governor Murphy and the Department of Environmental Protection can still stop the dangerous project by rejecting it crucial permits.

On March 7th, join us for this critical public meeting to help stop the NESE compressor & win a moratorium on all new fossil fuel projects. The forum will take place from 7-9 pm at the South Brunswick Senior Center. Now is the time to grow our call for a rapid and fair transition to a New Jersey powered by 100% clean renewable energy. RSVP here or join the Facebook page.

After Trump pulled the US out of the historic Paris Climate Agreement, Governor Murphy signed New Jersey onto the US Climate Alliance, a pledge to uphold the goals from Paris to limit global temperature increases to 1.5 degrees Celsius, and no higher than 2 degrees. We commend the Governor for this and other positive climate actions since taking office, but our climate commitments cannot be reached if his administration continues approving new, long term fossil fuel expansion projects.

Simply put, if the Governor doesn't take immediate action to fight climate change by stopping new sources of green house gas pollution in NJ, and by implementing a real plan to reduce existing green house gases, then he will be putting thousands of lives and billions of dollars in economic damage at risk.

Our recently launched "Empower NJ" campaign represents a growing call from all corners of New Jersey for Governor Murphy to enact an immediate moratorium on fossil fuel development, including the 12 power plants and pipeline projects currently proposed in NJ, as well as complete complete ban on fracking, water withdrawals for fracking, and fracking wastewater disposal in the Delaware River Basin and in the state.

Governor Murphy has all the evidence and regulatory tools he needs to enact an emergency moratorium on new fossil fuel development. It's up to us to build the political power to make him do it. Join us on March 7th and sign the petition to Governor Murphy today.

Clean Water Action has joined a coalition of groups to launch Empower NJ: No Fossil Fuel Projects, a new campaign for a moratorium on fossil fuel projects and a rapid and fair transition to a 100% clean renewable energy economy. You can view a list of the organizations endorsing this campaign and our message to Governor Murphy here.
