In 2013, Clean Water Action endorsed Ed Markey in his first run for US Senate saying, “A vote for Ed is a vote for clean water and much more.”

The political landscape has changed dramatically since 2013, and the US is having a much deeper national conversation about what kind of country we want to be.

But in 2020, one thing has not changed: A vote for Ed is still a vote for clean water and so much more. Senator Markey has a decades-long track record of environmental leadership and is a proven champion who puts people first.

Ed Markey, the U.S. Senator from Massachusetts is most well known in recent years for his leadership on the Green New Deal, in partnership with Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.  Senator Markey understands that to solve the climate crisis, we need a just transition that brings along workers, people of color, and low income people who are too often left behind by policymakers. Senator Markey sees the struggles of our communities and is pushing for a robust Green New Deal on every level that will deliver resources where they are desperately needed.

But his leadership didn’t start with the Green New Deal, he has been with us for decades. Whether it’s national leadership around nuclear safety and oversight, or fighting against the fossil fuel and toxic chemical industries, we can count on him.

Clean Water Action is proud to endorse Senator Markey for the U.S. Senate.  He brings crucial experience, leadership, passion and judgement that we need in these troubling times.

The Democratic primary will be held on September 1st, the Tuesday before Labor Day. Mark your calendar now and make a plan to vote for Ed Markey. Clean Water Action will be working to re-elect him throughout the spring and summer. Join us in fighting for one of the great climate champions of our state!
