Clean Water Action Applauds Colorado Water Plan

Thursday, November 19, 2015

After several years in the making, today the Governor released the Colorado Water Plan to begin to address the state’s future water supply needs. Clean Water Action applauds Governor Hickenlooper for investing in this effort and prioritizing water conservation.

“Clean Water Action’s members provided thousands of comments during the process calling on the state water plan to include strong water conservation, natural water storage and to not invest in costly water projects,” said Kathy Aterno, National Managing Director.

While the Plan has goals, action steps, and pledged funding, Clean Water Action is focused on the need to make sure the state implements recommendations that promote water conservation and pollution prevention, and continues the involvement of local communities and citizens in implementation.

Clean Water Action is also urging the state to not waste taxpayer’s money on costly water projects without looking at alternatives, and to make sure the Plan doesn’t shortchange rivers and streams.

Clean Water Action looks forward to being part of the project moving forward.
