Clean Water Action Endorses Aaron Regunberg in Democratic Primary For Lieutenant Governor
PROVIDENCE - Clean Water Action is pleased to announce their endorsement of Aaron Regunberg's candidacy in the 2018 Democratic primary election for Lieutenant Governor.
“Aaron has proven himself to be a true leader on environmental issues and has worked to elevate the voices of Rhode Islanders most affected by climate change and environmental injustices,” said Johnathan Berard, Rhode Island state director.
In his time in the general assembly, Regunberg has sponsored bills to create renewable energy jobs and put a fair price on carbon, expand renewable energy credit benefits to low-income households and nonprofits, and prohibit the approval of any new energy infrastructure projects that would prevent the state from reaching its emissions reduction goals. He also co-sponsored numerous pieces of legislation aimed at protecting public health, preventing water pollution, and reducing hazardous waste.
“Aaron understands that we can create a vibrant economy here in Rhode Island while at the same time being good stewards of our natural assets,” continued Berard. “We are confident that he will be effective in using the office of the Lieutenant Governor to help Rhode Island's working families while at the same time protecting our lands, waters, and public health."
Clean Water Action organizes strong grassroots groups, coalitions, and campaigns to elect environmental candidates and to solve environmental and community problems.
