Clean Water Action Endorses Cynthia Johnson for Michigan’s 5th State House District

Monday, October 5, 2020

LANSING- Today, Clean Water Action announced its endorsement of Cynthia Johnson for the Michigan State House.

“From her strong support for holding corporations accountable to her consistent advocacy for our water and public health, Cynthia Johnson has spent her time in office as an environmental champion," said Mary Brady-Enerson, Clean Water Action Michigan Director. "She knows the reality of how weak environmental policy can devastate communities and her work towards environmental justice is the real deal,” concluded Brady-Enerson.

Representative Johnson was the sponsor and among the strongest advocates for bills requiring regulatory agencies to consider the cumulative impacts of air pollution in permitting decisions, and her bill to increase fines for illegal waste dumping cleared the State House and is awaiting a floor vote in the State Senate. For her work this term, Johnson received a “positive” rating on Clean Water Action’s midterm scorecard.

“Cynthia Johnson has proved time and again that she can be trusted to take action on the issues that matter most to her constituents and she is a fighter for our water and environment,” said Brady-Enerson. “We are proud to endorse her campaign today and we are excited to continue working with her to protect the Great Lakes and our water. The choice is clear – Cynthia Johnson for Michigan State House.”
