Clean Water Action Endorses LuAnn Bennett for U.S. House of Representatives in Virginia
Loudoun County –Clean Water Action announced its endorsement of LuAnn Bennett for U.S. House of Representatives in Virginia’s competitive 10th Congressional District.
“LuAnn Bennett is a leader who will defend vital safeguards for clean water and public health while taking action to fight climate,” said Michael Bochynski, Virginia Program Organizer. “For 35 years she has been a small business executive, promoting energy efficient and environmentally sustainable development projects throughout Northern Virginia while creating jobs and improving the metro region’s economy.”
LuAnn has served as an appointee of then-Governor Tim Kaine on Virginia’s Climate Change Commission, and is currently a member of the Institute for Sustainable Communities board. As a member of Congress she will protect open space in Northern Virginia by investing in Metro and directing growth along the Silver Line and support investment in clean energy technology to create jobs and reduce emissions.
In contrast, the incumbent, Representative Barbara Comstock, has worked for polluters instead of protecting public health and the environment. Congresswoman Comstock received a zero in Clean Water Action's upcoming Congressional Scorecard. She has also been an opponent of the Clean Water Rule which restores protections for streams, lakes, wetlands and other vital water resources, and consistently voted against this commonsense safeguard.
“Clean water is essential to the quality of life in District 10 and for the health of local creeks, the Potomac River, and the Chesapeake Bay,” said Brent Bolin, Chesapeake Regional Director. “To protect clean water we must elect candidates who care about it.”
“Comstock has refused to refute Donald Trump for his reckless plan to eliminate the Environmental Protection Agency and his relentless claim that climate change is a hoax. The choice is clear – Luann Bennett for U.S. House of Representatives,” concluded Michael Bochynski.
