Minneapolis -- Clean Water Action Minnesota Director, Deanna White, released the following statement regarding Enbridge's Line 3:
"We need to put clean water first, not the transportation of the dirtiest form of oil. Line 3 is a pipeline expansion to bring millions of barrels of tar sands oil per day from Canada, through Minnesota, to shores of Lake Superior in Superior, Wisconsin. Clean Water Action opposes Line 3 because of it threatens our communities, our health, our water, our climate, and violates treaty rights of Anishinaabe peoples and other nations in its path.
The pipeline’s impacts on our economy, natural resources, and public health, and its violations of Indigenous rights, are unacceptable. Line 3 puts Minnesota’s waters at risk and the last thing we need right now is new fossil fuel infrastructure when we should be investing in clean, Minnesota produced, renewable energy.
Clean Water Action will continue to work with our allies like Honor the Earth and MN350 to oppose this pipeline."
