Washington, D.C. -- Today the U.S. House of Representatives passed the HEROES Act, a COVID-19 relief package. It now moves on the to Senate.

Clean Water Action President and CEO, Bob Wendelgass, released the following response:

"The HEROES Act is a down payment on the relief people and communities need to weather this crisis by investing in people instead of polluters. It provides relief to states and tribes to ensure workers and families can protect themselves, helps people access clean water and pay their energy bills, and ensures that people can exercise their right to vote during this crisis. We welcome the first ever assistance program to help people with water bills. Preventing utility shut-offs during this crisis is important and we need to do more to ensure that drinking water and wastewater systems are supported so that they can keep services running in their communities."
